For about $80/1000 words, this is on the higher end (while still remaining reasonable price-wise) of a website with a group of in-house US-based writers. The nice thing about this service is that they also specialize in Affiliate Marketers and Entrepreneurs.
For free, you can get in content with them and discuss in person exactly what you’re looking for.
#3: HireWriters
This is the cheapest option that still provides reasonable quality writing. You won’t get the highest quality with this service but you always need to balance price with quality. This service is leaning on the side of pricing.
You’re looking at around $60 for a 2000+ word article written by an “expert”. This is about as cheap as you’re going to find without finding an independent writer who has great rates.
The nice thing about HireWriters is that you can reject the content if you don’t like it. You only pay if you like the content that was written. It can be a little annoying having to wait for a new article to be written BUT at least you’re not losing money.

#1: Linkedin
If you search for students on LinkedIn, you might just get lucky! Students are generally very eager to make some extra money on the side and can serve as excellent content writers.
They definitely won’t know how to do SEO initially but you can teach them and then once they’re able to implement it you can offer them a raise.
#2: Fiverr
The nice thing about Fiverr is that you can look through candidates rather than having to post jobs. Also as a user that’s looking to hire, it’s free to use. You don’t need to pay anything.
#3: Freelancer/Upwork
You sign up, pay a fee to post a job, get a bunch of replies to your post and then choose a writer. That’s pretty much it. I personally don’t like using these websites

Lastly, I just want to say that you can always post an ad on Craigslist or Kijiji as well. Sometimes there are students who are dying for a little bit of extra cash and would gladly do research and write some good articles. Likely, they won’t know anything about SEO but they probably will be more on the affordable site.
My Recommendations
Beginner: If I was just starting my own blog and trying to grow it quickly, I would either use HireWriters or try and find a student to write for me. The reason is that I would be trying to keep my costs as low as possible since I wouldn’t be bringing in any income yet. I also wouldn’t mind putting a little extra work into editing and teaching.
Intermediate: If I was actively growing my blog, I would probably use Human Proof Designs. I know that the quality is going to be high and I know the content will be well-researched and optimized for SEO, which will save a ton of time.
Advanced: Lastly, if I was scaling an already successful blog bringing in over 1-2k a month then I would try Smart sites.

I think it is really challenging to write enough content when you have a blog, so options for hiring writers is truly welcome. Although, it is almost like putting the cart before the horse. You are not making any money from your blog and you need content, but you can’t afford to hire writers. Hi, Mario! Thank you for the question. In my personal experience, I don’t want to give them too much work that would require intensive knowledge about marketing, managing a business, or any type of work that requires too much business management.
That being said, I would suggest that the first tasks are simple to handle. I mean, I would not just say, for now, you can hire an experienced individual and get them done easily or have an inexperienced one then you’ll be okay to train them. What I mean by this is, that you want to handle a writer with organized tasks, kind of laying out every single step of what they need to do in some kind of documentary spreadsheet. In that way, you can have a pretty solid way of tracking.
I think depending on the genre / topic – it would be very important to find a writer with the same tone of voice as to the rest of your existing articles / blog posts. I totally agree that finding the right person with excellent English in vital, but pretty close behind that for me is the new writer understanding the importance of the tone. I’m happy to do some editing, but not if I’m paying at the higher end. I appreciate your post having solid options all in one place – I will be sharing this article with my other blogger friends.
