Swagbucks, Product Overview | What exactly is it?
Swagbucks is a program that gives you cash buck in the form of “swagbucks”. These are points that you collect for doing activities online, namely:
- answering surveys
- online shopping
- watching videos
- reading content
Once you have a certain amount of swagbukcs, you can redeem them for giftcards to various places (i.e. Amazon) or exchange them for money via Paypal. It usually takes a few business days for that transaction to go through to Paypal but the giftcards are instantaneous.
The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
Pro #1: Easy to implement
Pro #2: Free
Pro #3: Make money doing things you’re already doing (shopping and surfing online)
Con #1: Exchanging time/money for money back (shopping or writing surveys)
Con #2: No opportunity for “growth” long-term
Con #3: No learning experience
Who is Swagbucks for?
Swagbucks is a platform designed for the following people who are:
(1) Looking for Something Easy
The platform’s big selling point as I mentioned in Pros is the fact that it’s super easy. You don’t really need to learn anything new or know anything special in order to make money from it. In that way, it’s for people who want something super easy that requires very little effort.
(2) Internet Surfers
Cash is offered for reading online content and watching videos in some cases so it’s for people who love to surf the web a lot. If you’re one of the people who can spend endless hours getting lost in rabbit holes online, then you might as well get paid for that right?
(3) Online Shoppers
One of the features is also cash back for online shopping. If you’re an avid online shopper (who isn’t during COVID-19), then you might as well use this feature. It doesn’t cost anything and you’ll get some money back.
Swagbucks Tools & Training | Not much training is provided or required
There isn’t really tools or training on the website beause there isn’t much knowledge needed in order to get started. You literally sign up on the Swagbucks login page here. Then, you add the button to your chrome browser and Swagbucks takes care of the rest.
In terms of tips and tricks how to earn the most Swagbucks in the least amount of time, you can usually find that information on Reddit. Swagbucks doesn’t really provide that information to you.
They do provide you with very easy to access and easy to do “ways to earn”.
On your dashboard page, you have a ton of options available in order to earn a few hundred swagbucks here and there. At the top of my dashboard right now as I’m looking at it, there is a list of surveys and it tells you how long each will take and how many “swagbucks” you’ll earn for each:
They do this through featured things that day or through your “daily check list” from which you can earn bonuses. In this way, it’s not difficult at all to know what to do next.
It seems as though you could spend hours and hours doing this stuff for not that much reward…
Swagbucks Support | Nothing fancy, just the usual
There is nothing fancy about the customer support.
It’s the usual triad of:
(1) Help bot : You have the help bot that you can click on at the bottom right corner of the screen. This bot is built in with a smart algorithm to try and answer the question you type in. If you don’t get a satisfactory answer, you can go ahead and submit a ticket (see #3)
(2) “Smart” FAQ: This is basically all the answers you’ll get from the help bot except without the fanciness of the bot itself. You just type your query into the search and the best answer they have in is determined by an algorithm and given to you based on a FAQ type system.
(3) The ability to submit request tickets: If you don’t find what you’re looking for, then it will give you an option to submit a support ticket which will be answered through your e-mail address in several days time.
Nothing to write home about in terms of support but the system is pretty simple and automated. The only issue I can foresee happening is if the payments to your Paypal aren’t working properly. That would probably be a huge pain to try and fix that situation.
Swagbucks Complaints on Google | Everyone seems to think it’s legit
There’s currently over 600k users of swagbucks. From what I’ve seen online, it seems like for the most part, they all think it’s pretty legit.
Here’s some reviews that we found lying around:

Swagbucks Price | It’s definitely “worth the money” but is it worth your time?
Absolutely free to join.
Not much more I can add in terms of money.
The issue is that to actually make any decent amount of money, you’re trading in a good chunk of time…
My Final Opinion of Swagbucks | It won’t make you rich but there’s practically no downside
Swagbucks definitely will NOT make you rich. The upper end of earnings is probably ~1500 or 2000 a month if you really dedicate a good chunk of everyday to doing your tasks.
There isn’t really a downside when you think about it except maybe the time that you’re giving up doing all of the tasks could be spent actually building your very own online business. At least in that way, you have the ability to grow that further the more time you put in and your earnings back will be exponential.
Of course, in the same way, any business you start will have a learning curve and will not be earning you money right away. Swagbucks is a good way to start earning immediately with virtually no learning curve.
In my opinion, the real edge that Swagbucks has is it’s simplicity and the fact that you can make some extra money doing what you’re already doing.
That’s why I’ve decided to try it and see what happens myself. So far, nothing crazy – just about $50 bucks a month of money back mostly from shopping. I refuse to spend any time doing surveys or watching videos/reading things that I wouldn’t normally do.
It’s hard to complain about $50 here and there that I normally wouldn’t have had. Nothing to write home about for me but it certainly can’t hurt.
In conclusion, I would say that it would be easy to get consumed by the surveys (which take a lot of time) and trying to buy things that you don’t need just to make money money. If you manage to steer clear of that, it’s worth it because it’s just some extra money for things you were doing already anyways.
