Keywords are like a compass for your SEO campaigns: they tell you where to go and whether or not you are making progress. In this course that I took from Wealthy Affiliate, I found out that finding quality keywords for your SEO is not that easy, you have to think carefully about what you put on your website and blog.

But don’t worry in this article I will show you how to do keyword research. Here are the things that you need to know:

Google Keyword Planner

In order to use the google keyword planner, you must have a Google Ads (previously as Google AdWords) account and log in on it. Then click tools and pick keyword planner. See the picture below:

With that, you will be able to find top keywords. You can use phrases, websites, or categories. Using your product or service, you can use “seed keywords”. Seed keywords are the foundation of your keywords, it is the description for the main keywords. An example of seed keywords: cotton gloves, low-fat milk, sticky glue.

Long Tail Keywords

My Favourite Keyword Research Tool

If you’re serious about SEO, you should strongly consider investing in a keyword research tool. The research tool is for regenerating keywords. It is good to find the best keyword for your topic, blog, forum, website, etc.

You can use Google Keyword Planner but I find it annoying and difficult to use. I use Jaaxy personally. I find it much easier to use.

Jaaxy is a tool that allows you to find out how competitive keywords are.

You can test it out for free for your first 30 searches which should leave you with at least 10-15 good quality keywords to start with. This is MORE than enough to get you started when you’re first starting an online business.

You want the following criteria to be met to ensure that you are targeting keywords that are not too competitive:

– KQI/QSR: “Great”

– Traffic: The more the better

– SEO: 85+

Also, you want keywords that make sense. Sometimes there are phrases that people accidentally entered into Google for some reason multiple times. Eventually, people will stop searching these so you definitely want to avoid anything that doesn’t make grammatical sense.

Give it a try now:
