7 Proven and Effective Ways to Drive Traffic to your Website

Many businesses find it difficult to come up with fresh and creative ways to drive traffic to their website. There’s a lot of misunderstanding out there about how to get more visitors, which might lead to you repeating the same old strategies and expecting different results and we don’t want that to happen.

You’ll learn exactly how to get your website known and what are the right strategies for that. I’m going to talk about:

Website Traffic | Why is it important?

For a variety of reasons, website traffic is surely necessary. The more people who visit your website, the more potential customers/audience you’ll attract. The amount of visitors to your website determines how many chances your business has to make an impact, generate leads (contact with a potential customer), share your brand, and even build connections with other bloggers.

It Affects Your Conversion Rates

By improving the quality of your website traffic and visits, you may also improve your conversion rates. Conversion rates on your website are critical to the success of your online business or brand. This implies you’re convincing your visitors to do what you want, whether it’s attending your event, buying your product, or signing up for your emails.

It helps you reach your Target Audience

Having a good amount of traffic helps you reach and know who your target audience is and what they’re looking for in your website. Having website traffic also helps you gather thoughts about your audience to make decisions.

It lets you establish an Authority in Google’s Eyes

It is very difficult to get Google’s attention (ranking). When you create valuable content, it needs to have a sense of authority, meaning, you let Google know that you know exactly how to provide a piece of credible and useful information for your readers, and not just spatting things that are inaccurate.

Therefore, having an increasing amount of website traffic helps Google realize that you are truthful and you give out solutions that people need through your content. When you’re able to achieve a sense of credibility, that is when you can rank high on Google Search Results.

7 Effective Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Website

There are a few free Google tools you may use to boost your website’s traffic.

#1. Doing On-Page SEO

On-page SEO is the process of optimizing individual web pages in order to improve their search engine rankings and generate more relevant traffic.

Knowing how to perform On-Page SEO on each of your website pages in order to improve their search engine rankings and attract more readers is a great way to improve your blogging game. This includes crafting meta descriptions (an HTML element that provides a brief summary of a web page) for your sites, conducting keyword research for your articles, and producing high-quality content that your audience is looking for.

Optimizing your website pages can be tough work when you don’t have a grasp of the importance of SEO and its strategies, and it can be quite overwhelming especially when you’re just starting out. And I agree! You’ll need to know how to create an engaging blog post that resonates well with your readers, properly using media such as photos and videos in your blog posts, if you have older blog posts, you need to update and optimize them to get more traffic.

But, no worries! I have made On-Page SEO checklist that will surely help you ease your mind in thinking about how to drive traffic to your website. Make sure to check it out.

Doing On-Page SEO is definitely not the key in boosting your website traffic to get you ranked on Google Page #1. You’ll also have to work on optimizing your own website outside of WordPress, such as engaging with your audience through any social media platform such as Facebook, building backlinks, or what I like to call Off-Page SEO.

This basically refers to tactics of promotion that go beyond website design in order to improve a website’s search engine rating, which we’ll talk about in the following paragraphs

#2. Using Backlinks

Backlinks are one of the effective ways in performing Off-Page SEO.

A backlink is where one page on the internet references a page on your website and includes a link to access that page. For example, if a website that writes content about solo travelling (website A) links up another blog post that talks about travelling gear (website B), the travelling gear website gains a backlink from the solo travelling site.

Because backlinks are considered a sign of how popular your website is with consumers, having more backlinks can help you rank better on Google. As a website accumulates more backlinks, search engines such as Google determine that it contains valuable information, resulting in a higher ranking and increased visitors.

Here’s how to get backlinks:

  • Conversation with a blogger

After publishing a blog post, find 3-4 phrases that describe your blog post. Search Google for those phrases and start a conversation with the authors of the top articles or blog posts that appear in search results. Comment down your thoughts, compliment them on their posts, and you can offer suggestions for things to add. During the conversation, share your blog post with them and encourage them to include your article in one of their blog posts as a sort of reference.

  • Interviews

When you interview someone, you are giving them exposure to your audience. That means their brand gets to reach new people and they love that kind of stuff.

Because you’ve done something for them they are more likely to reciprocate by giving you a link back to your site. They want people to see their interview with you. They want to show that to their audience. For this reason, interviews can be a great way to build links for your site.

  • Round-Up posts

A round-up post is an excellent way to collaborate with other bloggers. These are posts that essentially just aggregate content or opinions from experts in your niche. It provides your readers with a broader set of solutions. Roundup posts are great because you can connect with other bloggers and authors. The people you reference are eager to share your article with their followers.

A roundup can contain as few as five links or as many as 100+ links. It’s entirely up to you and how much effort you’re willing to put into your post. More links mean more time spent gathering information and writing posts.

If this sounds good, let’s clarify the two main approaches to writing your first roundup post:

  1. Use existing content and start collecting tips, tricks and insights already published on other blogs.
  2. Interview experts. This second approach takes a bit more work, but will result in new content that you “own.” For example, you could interview authors about their advice on publishing your first book, or financial experts to get their best advice about saving for retirement.
  • Using HARO
drive traffic to your website

HARO (Help A Reporter) is a good way to generate links. This platform helps give journalists access to a large database of sources for prospective stories, as well as daily possibilities for sources to gain media attention.

Despite the fact that HARO was created for journalists, it is also used by bloggers, influencers, and a variety of other people looking for reliable sources.

Well, how does it connect to having backlinks? If you sign up for HARO and have your website as a source, you might get possible collaborations. If a journalist or another blogger decides to collaborate or use your blog content as their source, you’ll have a backlink on your blog.

#3. Posting on Social Media Platforms

In 2020, social media is everywhere and inescapable so this definitely has to be a consideration when starting an online presence. More and more people will want to get updated on the business and the business owners more thoroughly before trusting them.

It’s important to know by now how powerful Social Media is for SEO (getting quality traffic that lets you rank high on Google). It helps you build your reputation and allows you to share more of your content outside of your website.

Promote blog posts and other relevant pages on your website using social media platforms like Facebook. If you post quality content that is worth sharing, you may convert your social media followers into website visitors and generate traffic from their networks.

Pinterest is another amazing tool that you can use to drive traffic to your website and gain more traffic. Although it is sometimes misunderstood as a social media platform only, however, it is essentially a search engine. This implies that, unlike on networks like Facebook and Instagram, your content will be found for years after it is published, rather than deleted a few hours later.

The great thing about Pinterest is not only does it effectively helps you bring in more traffic, but you can also earn from it too by posting affiliate links. Moreover, setting up a strategy for driving traffic from Pinterest to your blog is not as difficult as it seems with a help of this guide.

Facebook and Pinterest isn’t the only social media platform that can help you. You can get more blog traffic by engaging on Instagram, Youtube or Twitter.

But, what if I don’t a Social Media presence yet?

There’s a lot of talk about social media and how important it is to use it for your business on the internet. However, if you’re just getting started and just have a few hundred followers, you might feel overwhelmed when you see your competitors’ Instagram accounts with hundreds of thousands or millions of followers.

It makes you wonder if having a lot of followers on social media help SEO.

You do not necessarily have to be a big influencer in order to drive traffic to your website from your social media platforms! Making a good impression is what matters. The number of followers matters in the sense that it may give people who have not seen your social media accounts before more confidence in your company.

#4. Using a Landing Page

Landing pages are a free way to drive visitors to your site. These are sites dedicated to your marketing campaigns, such as downloading a free PDF guide, free design template, redeeming a coupon or starting a free trial. Unlike web pages, which normally have multiple links to click and encourage you to explore other pages on a website, landing pages have a single focus or goal, known as a call to action (or CTA, for short).

Because landing pages are so specialized, you can be very specific with your messaging, which will increase traffic (and conversions) to those pages.

#5. Run a Direct Mail Campaign

Direct mail marketing is a type of marketing that can assist you to promote your virtual information and technology business. If you don’t understand the basics of direct mail marketing before you start, it can be very costly.

Regularly sending out newsletters and advertising special deals via direct mail is a wonderful way to stay in touch with customers and may also help drive traffic to your website. Useful information and links to areas on your website where they can learn more, such as blog posts and landing pages for specific offers, are provided.

Just make sure you’re not bombarding your readers with emails all the time, or they’ll stop reading them, delete them, or unsubscribe from them. Therefore, if you want to get to know more about this strategy, click on this blog post as I highlighted some of the benefits of direct mail marketing.

#6. Guest Posting

Having a good influencer with the same niche as yours write a blog post for your site or turn an interview with them into a blog post can help generate traffic both organically and through the influencer’s audience sharing the content (see the backlinks section above). This might also help to diversify your material and demonstrate to your readers that you are engaged in your subject.

#7. Make use of your Google Analytics

Google Analytics is free to use, and the information it provides can help you increase the number of visits to your website. Use tracked links in your marketing campaigns and monitor your website’s metrics on a regular basis. This will help you figure out which content tactics and types work, which ones need to be improved, and which ones aren’t worth your time.

What is Paid Traffic?

Paid traffic, as opposed to naturally generated traffic from SEO and Google, is traffic to your website that you pay for.

We all know how difficult it is to acquire visitors to our websites as online business owners and entrepreneurs. It’s virtually impossible to increase traffic through SEO without a solid strategy in place that works and a commitment to follow through on the essential actions on a regular basis unless you’re extremely lucky and something on your website becomes viral by accident.

In this blog post, I’ll explain more about what paid traffic is, where it comes from, how to get it, and whether or not you should use it.

Things to Look Out For

There is still such a thing as free website traffic, but there is no shortcut tool that generates it without your support. You want to spend 20% of the time writing and 80% of the time promoting your content. Remember, Traffic = Money.

If you’re thinking about using a sort of automatic traffic generator for your website (paid or free), avoid using them and it will do you no good. Why?

  • Google can detect clickbaity actions, detects peaks in activity, and detects how visitors access the website. Using an automatic traffic generator is likely to attract the bad signal from Google, harming your reputation and your ranking.
  • If your website receives bot traffic, you risk being blocked from online advertising platforms or, worse, being banned from Google. It’s not worth it to buy cheap website traffic! Take the time to build high-quality, long-term traffic to your website.
